3 Must have Apps for the iPhone 3G

The iPhone currently has thousands of apps available on the app store. So to make your life easier I have picked my top 3 apps that you must have on your iPhone 3G. Notice that I am focusing on the iPhone 3G and not the iPhone 3GS, this is because one of the apps I am recommending gives a feature to the 3G that the 3GS already has. It was quite hard to pick only 3 apps, but I feel that these 3 provide the essentials to getting more out of your iPhone 3G. So here they are……..

The 1st must have app for the iPhone 3G is iVideoCamera:

iVideoCamera does exactly what the name says. It allows the iPhone 3G to take short videos then save the video to your phone or upload it to Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Vimero, TwelveSeconds, or email it. It also has a feature where if the phone is connected to a WIFI network it can then be shared on the network with other computers. If the video is save to the iPhones camera roll then it can be easily edited using the iPhone software. Check out pictures below.

Some key things to know:

  • It costs $0.99
  • Video format is .mov
  • 25 second video was almost 4MB
  • Resolution is 213 x 160

The 2nd must have app for the iPhone 3G Emoji Icons:

Everyone knows that the iPhone is missing one major thing, and that’s emoticons. I was getting tired of using the stupied : and ) to make a smiley face, when I could have been using a animated smiley face. Well the Emoji Icon app brings smiley faces to your iPhone and a hell of a lot more. We are talking plants, animals, clothing, cars, sign, flags, poo ( ya that’s right poo) and a lot more. If you do a lot of text messaging to other iPhone users then this is the perfect app for you. Check out the pictures below to see the selection of emoticons.

Some key things to know:

  • Can get it for Free or for $0.99
  • Has hundreds of Emoticons
  • Easy to setup
  • Has a recently used section for faster selection
  • Only iPhone users can see them

Here is how to set it up:

To turn OFF/ON the emoji keyboard, go to “Settings > General > Keyboard > International Keyboards > Japanese” and turn OFF/ON “Emoji”.

The 3rd must have app for the iPhone 3G Shazam:

I don’t know about you but when I listen to the radio sometimes I hear a song that I really like and want to remember it so I can download it formy iPod later. Well the Shazam app will do all the remembering for you. Just by letting the iPhone record a few seconds of the song will allow the Shazam app to recognize it then store the songs information in its Tags section. Then when clicking on the song later it will show the name of the song, album name, label, album art, and date it was tagged. In addition Shazam provides a link to download the song off iTunes, posting the song on Facebook or Twitter, biography of artist, and discography information.  All of this information received by just a small audio clip of a song. Check out the picture below.

Some key things to know:

  • Its Free
  • Easy to use
  • Takes less than 10 seconds of recording
  • Has Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube support
