NASA and DARPA a decade ago, paired off to create the robotic astronaut of the future called Robonaut. With it’s cool copper helmet and some faux-muscly arms, unfortunately Robonaut never made it to space. Now to years later NASA’s back with the Robonaut2, created with General Motors, who hopes to put the R2 in its assembly plants. Robonaut2 is said to be more dexterous than its predecessor and stronger too, as seen the the video below Robonaut2 is able to lift a 20lb dumbbell. NASA is saying it will start a “bold new era of space exploration,” but when that era begins we don’t know. We have provided a few video below of the new Robonaut2 robot. It’s quite interesting to see just how impressive this robot is.
