PlayStation 3 Slim to be Manufactured in July??by Justin on Jul.02, 2009, under Gaming Rate This Post:

Here we go again. Several sites picked up on a report by Chinese-language site Economic Daily News (UDN.com) that Sony has signed manufacturing agreements with two Taiwanese-based companies, Foxconn and Pegatron, to build the new, slimmed-down version of the PlayStation 3 in July. Ars Technica’s source had no specific information on how much the consoles will cost or whether or not Sony will alter its SKU offerings. However, the source did say that Sony is currently in the process of flooding retail with the 160GB PS3 SKU, while at the same time limiting supply of the 80GB model. The source noted that most retailers have about a 60-day supply of the 80GB model left in stock. Rumors have also been going around lately that a new PS3 slim would also result in a price cut and that if a price cut was put into place by Sony, Microsoft would also lower the cost of the Xbox 360. Now will any of this come true? Who knows……

USB 3.0 Coming Late This Year??by Justin on Jul.02, 2009, under Computers Rate This Post:

The July edition of Nikkei Electronics Asia is reporting that PCs featuring USB 3.0 may ship from Taiwanese manufacturers by the end of the year. The verdict stems from the SuperSpeed USB Developers Conference recently held in Tokyo May 20-21, displaying numerous prototypes containing the upcoming technology that included PC hosts transferring data to connected external SSDs, and “mutual” interoperability between components from different vendors. NEA’s Tadashi Nezu said it was clear that the industry is quickly pushing forward with compliant integrated circuits and more, and that the technology has actually matured since its earlier showings.
USB 3.0 is estimated to have a max transfer speed of 4.8Gbps. If you compare it to USB 2.0’s 480Mbps max transfer speed, you can see a massive difference in speed.

Apple + Games = Possible?by Dan on Jun.21, 2009, under Computers, Gaming Rate This Post:

In 1996 Apple teamed up with Bandai and released a gaming console called the Pippin. And lets face it, it was a complete failure. But considering Apple today, and its large success with the Apple iMacs, iPods, iPhones and its steady stream of fast selling apps for the iPhone, especially its games. One may think, why doesn’t Apple have many games for its iMacs? Or for that matter, why doesn’t Apple develop a new game console? Well it seems, they just might.
Many rumors and leaks have been floating around for quite some time now. One of the biggest being that Apple has been keeping an eye on EA and has a great deal of interest in buying out the company. Whether this is true or not doesn’t really make a difference. Since Apple has had huge success in the multimedia area of digital downloads, portable gaming, excellent user interfaces, and tv streaming coming soon. It only makes sense that Apple cleverly develop a new console. Or at least start producing more top notch games for the iMacs and backwards compatibility with Windows based games.
In all honestly, the only reason I don’t own a Mac is for the simple fact that my PC games will not run on it. If that were to change, I would gladly switch and rid myself of the unstable, packed with garbage, tones of bs operating system called Windows.

A Moment To Reflectby Dan on Jun.21, 2009, under Gaming Rate This Post:

Oh Sony, how you tease us all with such great awe inspiring games. And at the same time empty our wallets by forcing us to dish out hundreds for your consoles. Sill no price drop for the PS3 and a far over priced PSP GO!. TGS (Tokyo Game Show) is still 5 months away. That’s 5 more months waiting and hoping for you to slash just 100 off the price of the PS3. And for that possible announcement of the PS3 Slim. But on the other hand, $250 for the PSP GO!, which is actually cheaper for you to produce then the PSP-3000. Now that is just a rip-off.
Why Sony? Why do u do this to us? It’s like waving sweet delicious candy in front of a small child, and then telling them they can’t have it.
Don’t get me wrong here. I have a launch model 60GB PS3 and I’ve loved every moment with it. But not everyone is fortunate enough to burn over $500 for a single game console.

Mobile Revolutionby Dan on Jun.21, 2009, under Technology Rate This Post:

Word has been spreading like wildfire about Nokia’s new prototype cellphone that uses the ambient radio waves in the air to charge itself indefinitely. Nokia states it can be out in the public hands in around 3 years from now. Although it won’t have enough power to charge while talking, but when put in stand by, it will be able to charge itself for unlimited power.
Of course however, this wont work under some bridges or basically anywhere where you won’t get a decent radio signal. Now if only they can implement this technology into laptops, watches, and pretty much any mobile electronic device we will all be very happy.
